An introduction to filmmaking

Join The Sidney Poitier New American Film School this summer for one of our film camps! Guided by Poitier Film School faculty, high school and community college students will be introduced to the fundamentals of filmmaking from script to screen. For summer 2026, we're offering camps in both Mesa, Arizona, at the state-of-the-art Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center and in the heart of the entertainment industry at the ASU California Center in Los Angeles.

FAQs

    What are some hotels nearby?

  • Currently, there are no ASU-hosted boarding options for the camp, however, ASU does have relationships with several hotels in the area. For hotels with affiliate/corporate codes, please visit the ASU Visit website at visit.asu.edu/travel. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from camp, as well as any necessary housing. There are hotel options within walking distance to the ASU California Center.
