Description

The Sidney Poitier New American Film School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a full-time 9-month (academic year) Assistant Professor, Cinematography and Film Production beginning August 2025. This is a tenure-track position. The faculty member will teach undergraduate/graduate courses, actively engage in professional research, and contribute appropriate service. This position will be located at two of ASU’s Poitier Film School locations – the ASU Tempe Campus and the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, in Mesa AZ.

The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate film courses in-person with Media and Immersive Experience (MIX) Center in downtown Mesa at ASU at Mesa City Center, and at the Tempe campus.

These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include:  preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes), and utilizing ASU Canvas for each course. 

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.  Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
